ABOUT THE AUTHOR, ENTREPRENEUR AND COACH

Talia Johnson- Huff

From her entrepreneurial beginnings at age 12, braiding hair in her community, to becoming a licensed cosmetologist and master barber, construction manager,  celebrated author, government contractor and the revered "The MWBE Coach", Talia Johnson-Huff's journey is a testament to resilience, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of success. At the helm of MWBE Constructors, Inc., for over 14 years, operating in the Construction and Business Consulting arena and serving managing brownfield developments, parks and railroads for her County's Industrial Development Agency, Talia has navigated the complexities of being a young, Black, and eccentric woman in the predominantly white, male-dominated construction industry.

Her multifaceted career, marked by managing over $1 billion in commercial and government contracts and spearheading initiatives for minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses, embodies her mantra: "I don't need to look like I know what the hell I'm doing, I just need to know what the hell I'm doing." Talia's style, both personal and professional, challenges conventions and inspires a new generation of entrepreneurs.
